21st Birthday Celebrations... A memorable day to many!

I don’t know why throwing such an extravagant 21st has become a trend. Maybe it’s social media – now that everything gets photographed, captioned, tagged and put on Facebook faster than the "NIGHT" even ends.
To me, it seems like way too much pressure to put on yourself – not to mention way too much money to spend on what’s really going to be just one more day in your entire life. (There’s also a possibility that I am just thrifty and I have issues..LoL)  But, on a serious note, my ideal 21st Birthday Celebration would be getting a car from my parents. That would be very memorable for me :) *hint hint*  And it won't be this year, nor next year, it will only be my birthday in 2 years time.
Okay, I get that 21sts are a big deal to many of us. A friend of mine is planning to have one in two months time. And I get that parties can become pricey. Once you slot in all the factors – venue, food, drinks, cake, decorations, an outfit – you can be looking at a shindig that’s going to cost you well into the pretty thousands.  All this money for one memorable night. I don't have a clue of what I can get her as a gift.  All I know is that it has got to be something special, unique, expensive... haha! It all comes with a price! we can't run away from that reality.
And thank God guys don't fuss over such things as 21st Birthdays, that would sound terribly gay! Imagine?? Your boyfriend stressing over his 21st birthday?? Whooaa! That would be the day...
And to all my friends whom have invited me to their 21st parties, all you can expect from me after attending your party is a wish list of gifts that you may get me  and we can all go have a braai somewhere and everyone gets a chance to say a few words at my 21st Braai.  Please don't steal my idea guys.. haha!
So ladies and gents, I think you should all decide to do something that you will gladly enjoy when your 21st comes and make sure you have more fun and spend less, or at least try ;)  It can be absolutely anything, you can have a house party if that's your favourite vibe? go bungee jumping? have a roadtrip and party in three different towns in a day (but that will be tiring, haha)? Go old-school and organise a camp with close friends? There are plenty of things that would be fun and cost effective. I plan on having something different, and don't be bitter if i forget to invite you if i happen to celebrate it... okay?
Make the most of it... You're only 21 once!  (" Hloniph' ulife boy!"- Mandoza)

Miss Tee* keeping it real...once again!

I'm thinking of getting dreadlocks, help me decide...will it be a 'Yay' or a 'Nay'????? i'm really tired  of this afro, it demands a lot of undivided attention and i am too busy to maintain it...

I pout, therefore, I am....

Here's some of my pouting experiences, you be the judge...but I know I look good.. :)
I love pouting or pulling crazy faces when taking pictures.  I don't really have a reason why I do it! :) Some people that know me too well would say 'pouting' has become my signature pose because I have BEEN pouting.  The guys should understand, it's a girl thiiiiing.  We pout because we feel pretty. haha...

But on the real though, girls pout because it makes their face look slimmer, and it accentuates cheekbones. It makes us feel oh so sexy.  But sadly it doesn't suit everyone that tries it.  That's where the problem starts.  It may annoy a lot of guys because some girls that do it are NOT supposed to be doing it and it's just not a good sight.  It's not sexy it you have extremely big lips or extremely small tiny weenie lips, so stay away from pouting if you fit the description.  But why should we care what they like ladies?? Who told them we like them growing long pinky nails?! It's not attractive! Some of us don't even like it when they drop their pants to the floor, totally not sexy!

Guys have said that girls that are pouting:
  • look like retarded fish
  • are looking for attention
  • look stupid/retarded
  • have low self-esteem
  • they want to fit in
They have said so many other things which cannot be mentioned, quite harsh comments.  Niggas should stop hating on us really, eish! haha... But i think i agree with them when it comes to posing for pictures in public toilets, like in clubs for instance.  Now, that's not cool!!! Pout and be happy girrrls and some 'guys' hahahahahahahahaha.... You know what i mean?!

Hello ladies... :) we pout too, sometimes!

Why Mother's are so precious?! :)

My Mother & I... (:
I have so much joy in my heart right now, I really don't know why?!  I wish I knew because there's really nothing to be happy about at this moment.  I have assignments due to complete,  I have Open Day coming up this week and it's gonna be hella hectic I can already imagine, basically I have, I have, I have a lot on my plate. Okay, I think I know why i'm happy right now... because I get to go on my blog! Bliss! My Blog is my happy place! I'm sure you also have something you call your happy place?? Your room maybe??? Music??? :)

Yesterday, it was Mother's day and sadly for me it was the very first Mother's day that I didn't get the chance to talk to my gran! :( That just brings tears to my eyes... It's been 5 months and 15 days (which equals to 167 days) since my gran passed away and it still hurts even by just mentioning her name.  I guess it goes to show, how shocked I was at the news! I have no other way than to accept it though, as painful as it is.  Life goes on.  I miss her voice and her beautiful smile that gave me all the courage in the world.  It shall remain in my mind & heart forever.  Okay okay, so guys what did you get your mother?? did you perhaps cook for her?? :) I woke up and sent my mother a message on WhatsApp :) how convenient?! But she knows I would have spoilt her if I was back home, obviously!

Mothers are so precious.  Most of us take them for granted and once they gone, you can't stop crying about your loss.  My advice, do everything you've ever wanted to do for your Mother now, because you won't get a warning as to when they will leave you.  I am the intelligent lady that I am today all thanks to my Mom, and I thank her for giving me an education. To Mom, education is the key to success, and learning is the first law of life.  My mom had a great influence on my life. She set an example of hard work and optimism, which she demonstrated daily and which made a big impact on me. She always encouraged me to work hard and do my best at all times.  I will always appreciate her and all her teachings.  She's a diva though hahaha... who else has their mother on BBM? WhatsApp? and Facebook?!!! In a nutshell, my mother is my best friend.  There you have it... :)

If you have lost your mother, I'm terribly sorry for your loss, don't forget that she gave you a life because she wanted you to be "somebody", so go on and make her wishes come true.  Do it for her as much as you will be doing it for yourself! Succeed in whatever you do and make a difference in someone's life.  Respect "abantu abadala kunawe" (translation:  your elders / people older than you), even Mandoza says it in his song "Hlonipha".  It's real guys and girrrrrls.

Keeping up with Tee.. (:

Hello everyone, so I haven't lived up to my word... Like I said, i'd be post something every week... But I've been soooo busy lately! It would take me forever to explain.  Anyways, as you already know, I'm a student so you know the drill.  I have assignments and I also have to prepare for presentations and my radio show that I have twice a week.  But let me not bore you with all of that!  Hope everyone is keeping WARM, 'cause I can feel this winter is gonna be the "biznis" man! And by that, I don't mean go cuddle and play house haha... I mean, dressing up for winter and eating good warm food! How I'd die for my mom's famous dish of "umngqusho" right now, you have no idea?! It's the bow wow...

Oh and by the way, I took off my weave, just doing a ritual for my blog, so you all can see 'The Real Tee' behind it all... I'm as real as they come! Don't be fooled by my weaves.. As much as I love them, they give black girls the ability to look all glamourous since we're not blessed with long silky hair! We kinda have to go the extra mile to look good, but who's complaining ladies?! I'm not!!!! If someone has a problem with your weave, tell them to deal with it unless they paid for it! Can i get a Hell Yeah??? Awesome! :)

Go out there, and make a difference.... :) Help an old lady cross the street, we can't all change the world!  Do the little that you can do, afterall, it is the little things that always count!

You wanna know who I am? (:

Well, ladies and gentlemen... I am the great, the awesome (some might say), the crazy and the real Thembela Mbatha.  A 19 year old, growing up in a lazy town called Port Alfred, in the Eastern Cape.

I am the 1st born child of two kids.  I was given the name "Thembela" by my father whom actually thought I was going to be a boy, hence my name is pronounced the way it is.  Please don't get me wrong, he was still happy to get a beautiful girl like me, instead, it's just one those feelings you get when you're about to be a father and expecting your first child, you tend to get too excited, I suppose (in my dad's case).  Nonetheless, my little sister goes by the name, Khanya and she is a lot younger than I am.  That's all you need to know about her (straight face).  I hope that expresses how overprotective I am over my little sister.  We're five years apart, you do the math.  I grew up in Alice, the home of  the University of Fort Hare, which is my father's hometown.  I had to stay there because my mother was still in college, completing her teaching qualification in Queenstown.  When she finished, we moved back to Port Alfred.

I am proud to say, I started my schooling career at an all black primary school called Dambuza Primary School.  I was five years old at the time, when i started school, coming from Little Flower pre-school.  My mother took me there, Dambuza Primary, because she believed that all her children needed to know their home language before continuing at a multi-racial school where english would be our Home Language.  I must say, that helped me a lot.  I can now speak both isiXhosa and English fluently, thanks to my mother.  Later on, I went to Port Alfred High School and studied there from Grade 3 to Matric.  I have a lot of achievements that I have received in my school career.  I played sports, sang in the school choir and performed in the school drama productions.  I also played a role as a board member in the school Interact Club.  I won sportsmans shileds for Athletics and gone through regional trials for Netball, believe it or not.  In a nutshell, I had a lovely childhood and I am blessed to have grown up in such a household.  A home, with a grandmother, a mother, 3 aunts, 3 cousins, an uncle and a beautiful sister.  I passed my matric in 2010 and went to Cape Town to study at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.  I am studying Public Relations and I am enjoying every thing about my course.

Okay, by now, you might have realized that I have quite a lot to say about myself.  I am naturally talkative, outspoken and I am a people's person.  This is the reason why I have decided to start my own blog, to share and encourage more people with the love of writing to share their life journeys with us, as I am about to share mine.  I am currently working at UNI FM (cputstudents) as a radio presenter.  I have always wanted to work on radio, and this for me is a perfect start.  I have learnt a lot and I have realized how much I enjoy it.  To be honest, I see myself achieving quite a lot in Radio and I'm taking it quite serious.  I hope everyone else believes in themselves and puts in as much effort in what they love doing as i do, because it will show in the end.  As i quote, "God helps, those who help themselves".  So, don't expect anyone to notice your dreams for you, wake up and make things happen and you shall succeed in whatever you put your mind to.

I am an earth child, and I believe in the word of God as much as I believe in our ancestors.
