21st Birthday Celebrations... A memorable day to many!

I don’t know why throwing such an extravagant 21st has become a trend. Maybe it’s social media – now that everything gets photographed, captioned, tagged and put on Facebook faster than the "NIGHT" even ends.
To me, it seems like way too much pressure to put on yourself – not to mention way too much money to spend on what’s really going to be just one more day in your entire life. (There’s also a possibility that I am just thrifty and I have issues..LoL)  But, on a serious note, my ideal 21st Birthday Celebration would be getting a car from my parents. That would be very memorable for me :) *hint hint*  And it won't be this year, nor next year, it will only be my birthday in 2 years time.
Okay, I get that 21sts are a big deal to many of us. A friend of mine is planning to have one in two months time. And I get that parties can become pricey. Once you slot in all the factors – venue, food, drinks, cake, decorations, an outfit – you can be looking at a shindig that’s going to cost you well into the pretty thousands.  All this money for one memorable night. I don't have a clue of what I can get her as a gift.  All I know is that it has got to be something special, unique, expensive... haha! It all comes with a price! we can't run away from that reality.
And thank God guys don't fuss over such things as 21st Birthdays, that would sound terribly gay! Imagine?? Your boyfriend stressing over his 21st birthday?? Whooaa! That would be the day...
And to all my friends whom have invited me to their 21st parties, all you can expect from me after attending your party is a wish list of gifts that you may get me  and we can all go have a braai somewhere and everyone gets a chance to say a few words at my 21st Braai.  Please don't steal my idea guys.. haha!
So ladies and gents, I think you should all decide to do something that you will gladly enjoy when your 21st comes and make sure you have more fun and spend less, or at least try ;)  It can be absolutely anything, you can have a house party if that's your favourite vibe? go bungee jumping? have a roadtrip and party in three different towns in a day (but that will be tiring, haha)? Go old-school and organise a camp with close friends? There are plenty of things that would be fun and cost effective. I plan on having something different, and don't be bitter if i forget to invite you if i happen to celebrate it... okay?
Make the most of it... You're only 21 once!  (" Hloniph' ulife boy!"- Mandoza)
